i suggest an A64x2 4200+ or better plus a 780G board. Amd's the way to go for the HTPC, unless your willing to wait how the G45 turns out.

but you do have an after market cooler, extremes tend to run hotter with more voltage so their more overclock friendly btw. Enthustist dream, or your wife's worse nightmare.

opened the case tonight to find that 3 of the push pins on the AC7 were hanging loose. Pulled the heatsink, cleaned off the old TIM, applied fresh TIM, reseated the AC7. Temps dropped by 12C. Did some Everest stability tests and it still runs cool.

How about an e7200, the 45nm run really cool especially at stock, budget is $200, heck an e8400?
