Q6700

Thread Starter
Sooo I'm going to be getting a q6700, and I was wondering what kindof max stable overclock people typically get with it. It does have that higher multi than the q6600, so I imagine it would get a little higher than 3.4-3.6ghz typically.

edit: I'll be using a Gigabyte p35-Ds3l with it.

I've seen up to 4.2GHz, but for 24/7 use you might get a good chip to 4, 3.8 for sure.

On my old P35-DS3L i was getting 3.4Ghz 24/7 stable on my Q6600.
At a guess i would say you could add the extra 260Mhz that you get with the Q6700 to give you around 3.7Ghz 24/7 on water you may get higher.
From what i have seen though they are not massivly better oc'ers then the Q6600 which is why everyone was so against the much higher price. Its good they have come down to a reasonable price now though.
I too have seen some at around 3.8-4Ghz on water but not very often. Most are around the 3.6-3.7Ghz Mark maxed out stable oc.

The q6700 are higher binned chips so will they have a lower vid?

3.8 daily and stable.

Would depend on your particular chip and componentts. All are different, you know.

I would be very happy with 3.8. And yes I know they're all different, just wondering what people get on average.

They really don't get much higher than the Q6600s.

But the higher multi gives lots of flexibility, & allows for more RAM ratios choices.

Mine is able to do 4.05G in OS but can't do SuperPi and Cpu validation. It is pretty stable at 3.8G. Maybe it needs more tweaks.
