Upgrade Suggestions

Thread Starter
Hey guys I am thinking about upgrading my system. I don't do too much gaming but I do A LOT of multitasking, like remote desktoping, word processing, video editing, etc all at the same time. With having like 12 tabs open in FF the system starts to get kinda slow with the dual core, I think having two more cores may give me some more freedom.

I am thinking about the Q6600 overclocked to 3ghz would do good, I am thinking one of the DFI P35 boards unless the P45 boards are in the same range. I also plan on getting another 160gb HDD and doing raid 0 so the motherboard would be one with the I9R chipset.

My budget is under 500, is there anything else I could do to the computer that may benefit me better?

Thanks!

EDIT: Forgot, I was thinking 2gb more ram and ordering one of those 64bit upgrade disc from Windows, would that be the best thing to do to complete the upgrade?

I cannot see that wishlist because it isn't public, but why should I get another 4gb of RAM instead of just upgrading my 2gb?

Because RAM is picky and all the sticks need to be matched. Plus, I would take that G.Skill RAM over your XMS2 anyday.

Unless they are the same exact revision, timings, etc. then go for it.

It would be a way greater deal to just buy the G.Skill

I cannot see the link to the g skill RAM, it appears they are all over 80 bucks, I could pick up another set of 2 gb of XMS2 for another 30 bucks. What is the link to the g skill RAM he is speaking of?

Thanks!
