quick fix...help= rep+ - Page 2

when you overclock your video card and it artifacts / when yellow dots appear. And lets say you downclock it a little bit. it is suggested to reboot and try again (if you're using atitool)

imo use furmark. they have a stress test & benchmarking prog with it.

Currently ATI Tool doesn't automatically detect artifects. The purpose of the utility is to stress the card so the user (yes that means you) can see if any artifects occur. The timer is just there forconvenience so that the user knows how long the test has been running for.

alright thanks for the help, i got another question real quick. Is there any downside to constantly running the gpu's fan at 100% other than the obvious noise increase, will doing so cause it to burn out?

Try increasing the sensitivity in the artifact scanning options.

nsamuels, of course running any component maxed out with shorten it's lifepsan, but you'll have most likely upgraded by then.

also, i've found the source stress test to be the most sensitive at detecting artifacts.

as in all thing that release heat due to a current, better have adequate cooling be it fans by the card or a good exhuast system. running a certain OC for 24/7 is ok as long as it stays cool in ur rig. don't push it but make sure it's also stable. get good cooling on it if u want to suicide OC which are always fun to run once in a great while.

thanks guys, another real quick ?, how long should furmark be run for before my oc is considered stable
post #18 of 26
use the "older more compatable" scanning method, youll find it in ati tools options. i had run into the same issues, but now after changing the setting there are less artifacts, and the scanner's "timer" actually restarts on artifacting.

alright, so just to be clear, im only keeping my card for another 3 months max, if i run my fan at 100% while playing games from now until i sell it, it should still be ok right? also isnt it covered under warranty if the fan does burn out
post #20 of 26
A fan burning out on a graphics card falls under hardware fault. As you wouldn't have physically altered the card EVGA would honour the warranty. Besides, it's to replace the cooler as opposed to the hold card.
