First new build in six years(please help me out) - Page 4

its a great board and overclocks really well. As far as ram goes though you should be looking for capacity rather than speed. Because ram speed has very little effect on system speed especially in games.

This is a ram speed review where they tested ram speeds from 667-1333MHz DD2 & DDR3 the results are quite surprising. Turns out the spec that we should be looking for is latency rather than pure clocks.

If you m ust go AMD (Intel is better at the moment)
and want a cheap cooler get :

AC Freezer 64 Pro
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835185125

And this is a cheaper psu that will more than meet your needs (and is on the OCN psu recommended list)

xclio stablepower
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817189014

same gpu same manufacturer, $20 less
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102719

$20 more, double the ram and 1000 mhz
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231145

And if you're going to pay almost $40 for a zalman get a tuniq tower 120 instead

ah man thanks for saving me i wasnt using a am2+ processer wich means myr am wouldn't of been compatiable but you say these 1 gig sticks... will do the job nicley?

OCZ 600W Beats those two PSUs.
It's 39.99 after rebates on Newegg.
Also, get a Xigmatek S1283. Tuniq and Zalman are overpriced.

Didn't know that deal, definately the way to go for that price (love my OCZ GamerXStream)

And going from my zalman 9500 on my E6400 at 3.2 ghz to a TT120 I dropped about 7-10 cel from my load temp

i dont think thats compatible with the MSI K9A2 Platinum

Main Memory

• Supports Dual DDR2 533/667/800/1066(only for AM2+)
- 4 DDR2 DIMMs (240pin / 1.8V)
- Supports a maximum memory size up to 8GB.

It basically means that the mob supports 4 sticks of RAM, and up to 8GB of RAM, with speeds ranging from 533MHz~1066MHz.
They just add the 667 and 800 because those are the most common ones.
