My friend is giving me his q6600 when he upgrades, what is the best m-atx motherboard for overclocking/features? While your at it what would be the best PSU?

I recommend the Gigabyte G33M-S2 or DS2R if you can locate one.

with the latest bios revision i can hit 533MHZ+ fsb on both.

if not try for the ASUS P5E-VM HDMI.

He will be using a Q6600, or a quad core. Your statement saying you can hit 533Mhz FSB won't apply to him. It' near impossible to pas 500Mhz with a quad on almost any board, and even my IP35 Pro, which is one of the best boards for quads, I can only get it to boot with 470Mhz.

You should try to get a G35 board (like this), which is the mATX version of P35.

as mrtn400 said the P5E is really the only mATX board for quads when overclocking....

if he doesnt need those speeds why pay that price? that was the purposed of me recommending the gigabyte boards, they can be had for hella lot cheaper and are still speed capable as the G35.

and when i had my Q6600 still, my G33M-S2 clocked my Quad to 3.708 GHz

the board/chipset combo's are pretty much on par as of gigabytes latest bios release. back when i got my Q6600 up that high it was F4b which had a clock limit at around 430~ FSB. its not the baord limiting the quadcore, its the quadcore limiting the board.
