Thread Starter
Taipei (Taiwan) – You knew it was coming. Four years after the introduction of the first PCI Express chipset, Intel’s 925X, the accelerated graphics port (AGP) is finally running out of steam and products using AGP are very scarce.

Had to end someday.

Guess the Radeon HD 3850 will stay AGP's most powerful card, really can't see any more companies manufacturing any of the next gen cards for the interface.

If this is news to you, its time to come out of your cave.

AGP was great back when I bought my first computer after I moved out, that was 9 years ago.

Go read that thread that was started about the guy who installed crysis on his P3 computer... That will generally explain the ignorance about people and their reasons (excuses) on why they don't need to upgrade...

People who still defend AGP are the people who havent seen the difference over PCIE...

Like just yesterday, i have a friend who is running an older dell. His video card started failing on him months ago, and refused to get it replaced. Finally he called me and asked if i had anything to replace it. He has one of the first P4 PCIE based systems from Dell, so i told him i had something light years beyond what he was running (ati 9550 or something).

It was like pulling teethe to get $50 out of the guy for a 7600GT installed. He knows jack about computers, other than how to play wow, so that isn't saying a whole lot. Anyways, after dragging his ass and telling me that he feels like throwing money away if he had to spend any money on his computer, i finally got him to buy my card, to get his computer running...

Now he has seen the light. Now he can imagine life outside the world he was living in. Until you get to that point, ether by choice, or forced to it, people will always think that whatever computer they have is just fine.

So hence the reason why AGP is still around. People just don't understand that it really needs to die so peoples efforts can be redirected else where...
