Is 40C a good ambient to load delta?

OK, I think I should be getting better results with this set up. I currently have a D-Tek v1, BIX 240 rad with 2 panaflo 38mm-120mm pulling through 25mm shrouds and an MCP655 vario with 1/2" id tubing. I am using distilled H2O with a few drops of PT Nuke and some pentosin.

My ambient right now is 26C. When I fold, I top out at 66C-67C. All of this is running 400*9, 1.488 vcore (loaded). I do have the rad in the inside of the case, but I still get roughly the same temps with or without my side panel on. Also, I just cleaned the rad, so it isn't a case of dust/hair in the way (although it usually is, lol)

I am thinking of getting the new D-Tek and possible adding another rad to the top of my case. I haven't reseated the block in a while, but I doubt thats it. I an fairly new to water and was curious if this was just due to warmer ambients as it seemed like I was only loading to 55C-57C a few months ago. Will a 10C increase in ambient result in a 10C increase in load? I didn't think so, but....

For folding, those temps are a bit too hot for me (I fold at 50-55) right now, depending how the ambient. I think you should give it a reseat to see if it improves.

Is your rad getting hot? If it's hot then, a second rad would certainly help. A 10°C raise in ambient would result in a 10°C more in temps .

Yeah thats the easiest way to tell if your rad is over-loaded, just feel of it...You might be able to add a couple more fans in push if it is hot, if you have a couple handy...Might be worth a shot...

Well, considering you have a different CPU with a different die and a different TDP and different cache and different cooling, I can see why there may be some discrepencies

edit: Also, I was using coretemp 0.97.1 (I think) Realtemp reads differently and neither one is accurate. I use it more as a tool to see what deltas I get and not as a true reading of the temp.

Thanks guys. I think the 240 is pushing it. I may have underestimated the heat output of this CPU. I am really thinking of getting rid of a case all together. I never have it together for more than a week and always ***** and moan when I have to take it apart. If I keep the case, I may add another rad, if not, I am just going to use my desk and get a 360.

This BE I'm running drives me nuts, no desktop temp monitors work with it, everyone of them says something different.....Drives a old temp freak like me up the wall when I don't have 3 0r 4 monitors on my temp's...

Sounds like a plan...I cant stand a case anymore, I play with my gear way to often ....

It all depends. There are many variables involved. 65nm Quads put out a lot of heat compared to 65nm duals and, once you start talking 45nm, it is even more of a difference. That aside:

What vcore are you running?
What are ambients?
What application did you use to measure temps?
What is your case airflow?

Also, I am using a small radiator for cooling a quad. That combined with the fact that I have the rad inside the case and the case is inside a cubby hole all factor in. This is not an apples to apples comparison. If you used my loop on an E8400, I think you would be surprised at the results. The 45nm CPU's do not need extreme cooling as the produce much less heat and, when overclocked, usually reach a voltage limit well becore a temp. one.

Now, after considering all of that, run your set-up at 1.488v and see what you get. Even then, the shrunken die makes a huge difference as well.

No problem. I am not looking to flame, just showing that they are 2 different animals. Sorry if I came off harsh. Water cooling is nice, but with current air cooling options, there is not as much difference as one might think. I could get close to the same temps (as my loop now) if I got a really good air cooler, lapped and some decent 120mm fans. Also, my temps would be better if I had a 360 rad and moved it out of the case.

lol, I hated my 3600+ for that reason. Even after I read about the TJ max info being incorrect and that temp monitoring apps are incorrect (for Intel), I still can't go without some numbers moving up and down regardless of whether they are correct or not. I DL'd every application i could find and settled on speedfan, iirc. Really strange that nobody can accurately calibrate a Brisbane.
