great site! well, great is an understatement! anyway, ive finally decided to get a new rig. ive used my current pc for over 6 yrs. lol. my pentium 2ghz is oc to over 2.4+ghz, i cant even believe how it happened. i prolly got a very good chip. anyway, im thinking of getting a Blood Iron as my new mobo. but ive got a few questions in mind. one would be how long will it last me? it can support quads and up to 1k+ mhz ddr ram. but can it go up to par with upcoming mobos with new chipsets? two, is it a good buy at this moment? with new chipsets coming up, am i better off saving up for those new mobos? and lastly, what mobos can you recommend for me? thanks.

hello. Welcome to OCN. You will not find a better site for OC'ing. About your questions, you will get more responses to your questions, if you post them in the appropriate section. So i would suggest posting the same questions there as well. Are you going SLI or crossfire? What processor are you interested in?

Welcome....

As to the questions. I'm not entirely familiar with the life-span of a BloodIron...so I will leave that one for someone who has more experience with them.

As to the 2nd question, are you better off saving for an upcoming model....I would say no.
PC Components seem to become dated almost as fast as you buy them. With every month comes a newer, better, or just different version of things. You will always be a step or 2 behind and that's OK.

If you want to always have the newest, greatest, and most "buzzed" about equipment... I hope you have a huge bank account. You will buying a new mobo, GPU, CPU, or RAM almost every other week.

The important thing is to pick a system based off what YOU want to do. A 790i (just an example) is a wonderful board, but, if you are running a single GPU and DDR2 800 RAM, then you are wasting about $200.

Choose the system that fits you, and shop accordingly. No use waiting for upcoming models unless there is a specific feature you need that is coming out - but is not here yet.

hmmm... thanks for the replies. 200$ tops for the mobo. i dont have a huge bank account so im gonna get my mobo 1st then slowly rack up funds to get the other parts upgraded. SLI and Xfire, i think i cant afford 2 gpus atm or even in the near future. as for the proc, ive havent decided between e8400 and q6600. but nonetheless, its just between those two proc.
