How far is too far? : Q9450 Overclock Help Please. - Page 3

Put some higher values in there:

Now running prime 95 - no problems detected.

Coretemp according to PC Probe = 43C

Coretemp according to RealTemp = 57c, 57c, 54c, 53c - they keep moving in the 57-53 range.

400 Bus Speed, Multiplier of x8, running at 3200 GHz, Voltage across processor is 1.224v

Only thing is that on my Rampage board the x48 chipset is running hot - like 59c hot. I guess this Mobo question should go in another board; if you all have any clue as to how to isolate the NB temp and lower it on an ASUS Formula Rampage Mobo - I'm all ears!

My northbridge runs hotter than that - hence the reason it's going under water in a week or two. Angle a nice fan towards the NB heatsink and it'll help out. But I don't believe 59C is too hot for the chipset.

few things with the temps here. they are all guesses. sure they could be somewhat educated guesses but they are just that. a guess.
it all depends on what the tmax on the cpu is and as of yet I don't believe anyone outside of intel knows for sure what that is for any CPU right now. without that we are just hoping we have the right temps.

why 60c?

why 60c?
I believe it is actually 71C should be listed as the TJMax - check that intel link I listed earlier, think its in there.

EDIT: You know I read somewhere about modifying a file in CoreTemp to adjust the TJMAX to the correct temp and THEN it should read correct values...Anyone else see that or have any thoughts?

that is the tcasemax. different reading
the tcasemax is the reading from the center of the top of the heat spreader.
