go get yourself a nice air cooler (Tuniq, TRUE, Ninja, etc) and you could get that thing to 3.4 -3.6 depending on the VID. I have the same board (EVGA, not XFX) and a q6600 and i got it to 3.6 stable (on a TEC though, so your results will vary).

If you get a better cooler, check this thread for my settings (good way to start). Also, search for Robilar's EVGA 780i Overclocking Guide. That is what i used, (I bought his chips, so it worked flawlessly for me).

i hear the vendetta 2 is the new price/performance king... very cheap and keeps you processor very cool. i wish i'd bourght 1 when got this scythe, although i cant grumble as this cooler keeps my q6600 go @ 3.4GHz under 60 at full load

Overclocking is perfectly fine on stock cooling you just gotta monitor temps..

Really on Stock cooling probably MAX of 3ghz.

But its still recommended to get a aftermarket cooler !
