1/2" Gap Under PSU - Can I flip it over?

Thread Starter
I have an Antec 300 case and currently my psu is upside down. There is about a 1/4 to a 1/2" gap between the bottom of the case and the psu.

I was wondering if I would be able to flip it over so that the fan is facing the bottom of the case without having to drill a hole?

Thanks.

Your better off keeping the fan facing towards the top of the case, it will act as an extra exhaust...

Are there any holes at all in the bottom of the case?
If not, you should drill some hole so that the psu can get some air.

There arean't any holes. I thought that the gap was enough for case air to get to it.... since it is already sucking in case air anyway.???

Your PSU will still be able to breath, but it will not be optimal. I think it is safe to say that most peeps here would recommend leaving it as is, or providing some more access to "open air".

Confining the intake may starve the PSU of its required cooling requirements and/or shorten the lifespan of the fan; although the latter is somwehat questionable.
