Underlord, does your BIOS list the system/chipset temperature? I can imagine 87C (possibly). Have you touched the chipset cooler? Does it feel extremely hot?

Good luck

All i can find in bios is the "current system temp" which is 36C the cpu temp is 38C and then it list the system fan speeds etc. The chipset was infact not hot at all when i put my fingers on it. Of course i also shut the system off to touch the chipset heatsink.

the shut down might have been due to bios settings,
sometimes when a component reaches a certain temperature (listed in your bios settings) you pc may automatically shutoff for safety reasons.

the questions i would like to ask are, did you ever run cod 4 before? and did you jack up the settings recently? if so then it may be due to added load on one of your computer parts.

but i may be wrong, since i never mess with my auto shutdown settings in my dfi motherboard's bios.

anyway, i hope you find out the cause of the problem.

Try running it with the 7950GT.

also, try "Hmonitor" Does Voltages and Temp's.

perhaps, reset Cmos if it's not restarting.

Underlord, that PSU only has about 21amps on the 12volt rail. The "recommended" amperage on a system with a 8800GT needs to be at least 22-26amps(for total system power). I did some googling and read some other threads that asked this question. So perhaps maybe your PSU is not delivering enough. This would make sense seeming you only experience the crashes when playing games and not when your stress testing. Just a thought...

Good luck

Underlord, I have great experience with power supples from Seasonic. Right now I'm running one from Channel Well Technology(Corsair 550VX). I believe the HX series by Corsair is from Seasonic. Just make sure to pick one up that has a beefy 12volt rail. Wattage isn't really a big factor since your not running a SLI rig. Do you have a buddy that has a spare PSU that you could possibly test with just so we can rule out your X-Finity? I would hate for you to spend money and it not fix your issue.

Good luck

Yeah but i don't have access to him but either way if i buy a new PSU and it does not fix the issue atleast i can put the old one in a new build for my wife, i recycle alot of parts as anyone would =), but like i said i have to wait a little while before i'll have the cash to do so, just bought a 20" widescreen too so you know...
