Budget-under 500 for sure, hopefully under 450 SHIPPED
Don't need- Hard drive, graphics card
What I have to far is this:
https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/M...spx?ID=9680228
and the coupon code EMCAGAFCC for 15 bucks off the power supply.

I also am planning on getting a rocketfish case from bestbuy so i have set aside about 60 dollars for that. IF thats not availible, then i need a new case suggestion. I like clean looks, not leds everywhere etc. The cheaper the better, but still solid. A huge plus would be top mounted usb/audio ports like the antec 900 and the rocketfish both have, but it is not required.
I'm not too sure about the power supply, but that one popped up in the deals section and looks solid (and cheap). I will be upgrading graphics cards later on, so it has to be able to handle that.
I may be overclocking later on, would the stock intel cooler be OK for very moderate overclocking until I get a real heatsink?

Here's the parts list in case the wishlist doesn't work for some reason:

Not bad

Comments:
Do get a SATA DVD burner and not IDE. This one is nice, and even $1 cheaper
Sony NEC Optiarc 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black SATA Model AD-7190S - OEM

I would not get that OCZ PSU. This Corsair TX650 is MUCH better. And the free shipping partly offsets the price difference.

Which CPU cooler will you be using?

After the changes I suggest, the total will be $350.33 shipped from Newegg plus $97.99 shipped from buy.com. Grand total $448.32. If that's too much, get the Corsair VX550 from buy.com, which is very capable (and better than that OCZ you picked). The VX550 will nibble $13 of the total.

I have a OCZ psu and it's really solid, as for a heatsink your not going to get far on stock this one is good and has free shipping right now.

I would be using the stock cooler for a while, with little to no overclocking with the stock cooler.

I still have to allow about 60 bucks for the rocketfish case, so that would be almost exactly at my budget, and isn't this PSU the same thing?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139005
I wouldn't mind the extra 2 dollars for getting everything from the same website.

I would still like to get this cheaper if possible, if thats not possible without losing performance, then its fine as is.

If I went with 2 gigs of ram (my original plan), is that a viable option?

If you run XP it will be fine with 2 gigs, check out this memory, if I remember correctly gigabyte boards like crucial memory- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820146565

Couldn't I just add another set of 2x1 later on?
Are there any real downsides to 4x1 other than its supposed to be harder to overclock and it doesn't allow for further expansion(all the slots are taken)??

Oh yea, and would any OCN members have any of this stuff substantially cheaper? Though I couldn't make a wanted thread even if i wanted to...

Yeah you could add a set later and the rebate said you can use 2 rebates per address 26.46 shipped free is good for 2 gigs of ram. Plus there's alot of people on this forum that are ballistics fanatics http://www.overclock.net/intel-memor...ml#post2772002

Yeah you need to have 35rep to post in the for sale / wanted thread, but you don't need 35 rep to buy from the for sale forum but some members like most members to have some rep to keep random people from coming in and using this community for a good deal.

Alright, i think i'll do that which should bring the price down quite a bit.
Here in a little while i will post an updated list for everybody.

UPDATE:
Here's my semi-final list
Sony SATA 20x DVD Burner $26
CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W PSU $89.99 after $10 dollar MIR
AS5 $6
Crucial Ballistix 2x1gb $26.50 after $25 MIR
GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L $90
Intel E7200 $132
_____________
Shipping $10.55
_____________
Total after MIR $370.49
Add ~$60 for a rocketfish lian li

A Grand Total of $430.49 which is 20 dollars lower than my preferred budget.

Any more suggestions?

UPDATE:
Oh yea, whats the difference between the GA-P35-DS3L and the GA-EP35-DS3L?
Is it really only the improved energy management? or is there more?
UPDATE2:
I just read in another thread how the 650tx has a fan on the bottom, is there really such thing as a top or bottom on a PSU? In the rocketfish case, the psu is at the bottom so this could be a problem...

Thats the only difference I see, I owned one of those ultra durable 2 boards and they feel a little bit "firmer" almost like its a hard glaze or something to these boards.

It won't hurt the PSU to spin it so it's fan blows out the top, just make sure you have some ware to direct that hot air.

thanks, and the PSU question still stands, can either side of the PSU be "up"?
