8800GTX Sli'ing - Page 2

When you SLI two cards that are the same card but different speeds, the speed will be whatever the card in the top pci-e slot is. So if you put the higher clocked card in the top, the bottom will be overclocked to that speed. ANd of course if you put the slower card in the top slot the other will be downclocked.

nope.

SLI forces the cards to run sync'd at the speed of the slowest card irrespective of whichever slots you put them in.

If you overclock the cards (with rivatuner for example), both cards will clock up to the same speed.

The PCI-E bus cannot force an overclock on a stock card because the mated card is faster

Thread Starter
Thanks for the responses guys, just brought myself a Flexi Asus SLi bridge, which should hopefully arrive soon.

I tried SLi'ing without the bridge and i noticed no performance change, though i was in a rush so it was more than likely down to bad configuration.
