MacBook Pro is pricey, but is the only option if you want a decent graphics card. The regular Macbook is underpowered in that department.

Are you stuck on getting a Mac? You could get a very nice Asus or Samsung laptop for the same price as a regular Macbook that will perform about the same as the MacBook Pro.

well what is your budget for this laptop?

I just bought a MacBook today actually.

The only advantages the Pro's offer is the dedicated video card. The regular Macbooks come in three flavors basically.

I got the lesser of the 3 models - 2.1Ghz, 120gb HDD, 1GB RAM ($1100). But I just ordered a cheap set of RAM (2x2GB) off newegg to fix the RAM problem. It's a great laptop. Leopard takes some getting used to but it's definitely a fun OS with some great software included (iLife). Even on the 1GB of RAM, the laptop runs real fast. So far I'm impressed and having lots of fun with GarageBand.

Here's what I got:

why dont you just get a nice C2D/2GB ram/14.1 laptop or something instead? Could get a bit nicer one for less.
There are c2d laptops with 2gb ram on sale at newegg for 500.

choose between DELL or TOSHIBA..
i've had a dell for 4yrs and it still runs strong..haven't had any problems out of it yet,,but another thing i would recommend before buying one would be look at the warranty, customer satisfaction, etc. etc..oh, and how much money your willing to put into a new laptop is another thing to look at when buying a certain kind of laptop..Toshiba is an excellent laptop but can be pricey..just don't jump into anything..look around for what best fits you..hope that helps..
