Court cases take 2 or 3 years for all evidence to be collected, etc.

Therefore comparing current market conditions with this doesn't work. Intel do have the upper hand technologically wise - I'm sure even AMD fan boys would admit that. The reason they used these practices was because the Netburst architecture was amazingly awful and AMD were ripping it apart =/

Who says Intel haven't changed anyway?

Arggghh... Has there ever been any solid proof? If so could someone please link me that documentation. Don't get me wrong I'm all for sending Intel up the proverbial creek if they're truly guilty, but everything I've ever heard has been hearsay at best.

Intel offered about $37 million in rebates over 2 1/2 years to Samsung and Trigem on the condition that they wouldn't buy from Advanced Micro, according to commission's statement.

^ He said/She said crap... That's why you don't see a case in the US right now. Our courts may not be perfect, case in point patent squatters who attempt to extort money, but at least we have something called burden of proof here...

Again show me evidence (any evidence) that supports these claims of exclusivity and I'll join the angry pitchfork wielding mob.

What the ketchup?

Intel's processors beat AMD's and they still resort to this?

Ok, so they gave some money back? Why isn't this ok? Consumers get rebates for purchasing a product. To say it was so they wouldn't buy another companies product is stupid. Each chip requires different specs to be used. So they chose Intel over AMD, millions of people do that everyday.

Maybe my morales are just wacked.

Maybe I'm missing something here but why is this considered shady?

I'd gladly buy a new rig containing Intel, nVidia, Crucial, etc parts if they sold it to me at a reduced price with the stipulation that I don't buy one containing AMD, ATi or say, G.Skill parts.

True, it doesn't allow for fair competition but I'm sure that Samsung would be free and clear to use up their current stock of Intel processors, put the brakes on any further purchases from Intel at the reduced price and switch to AMD. Yes, that would be a HUGE undertaking and potentially threatening to the company to let your stock run out before making the switch but I really don't see anything shady here.

There is a difference between offering a rebate to buy one product over another. It is com0pletely different to offer those rebate for NOT buying the competitions product. The point is, Intel was alleged to have offered these lower prices and rebate solely on the fact that the buyer NOT purchase from the competition. This isn't a case of "we are offering a better product for less money" it is a case of "Give us control of the market or you'll pay for it"

Now, all of these acusations are alleged, but i wouldn't put it past Intel. large companies do this kind of thing all the time. AMD may have even done the same if they had the chance.

How would you feel if EVGA found out that your last GFX card was an XFX and decided to charge you more for their product?

edit: Also, this has absolutely nothing to do with the merits of the products, so please stop saying that it is OK because the latest Intel CPU's are better than AMD's.

"Also, this has absolutely nothing to do with the merits of the products, so please stop saying that it is OK because the latest Intel CPU's are better than AMD's."

yes im mad cuz you can run 9 programs in the back ground while gaming at 18% cpu usage with your 1200.00 cpu, when I can only run 8 at 21% usage on my 300.00 cpu .... whats going to be more funny is when ATI products work 60% better on the AMD then with the Nehalem because Nvidia wont be supported.

"Nvidia's Director or PR, Derek Perez, has told Fudzilla that Intel actually won't let Nvidia make its Nforce, that will work with Nehalem generation of processors.

We confirmed this from Intel’s side as well as other sources, as Intel told us that there won't be an Nvidia's chipset for Nehalem. Nvidia will call this a „dispute between companies that they are trying to solve privately“ but we believe it's much more than that."

so its just a matter whos E-peen is bigger in the long run its not the company that duz shady deals in the board room trying to gain the upper hand on the other guy with your business practices. *sarcastic smile* So it looks like I will be seeing all you Intel fanbois on the other side of the Super highway.

Erm, just trying to work out what this post actually says...

I didn't pay $1200 for my CPU and I doubt most of the forum did. Check how much a E8400/Q6700 checks and get back to us on this one.

I don't advise using Fudzilla as a source, simply because they post so many lies. And seeing as I've heard so many bad things about nVidia's 780i I'm not sure that them not producing is a bad thing =/

Thats the whole point prosser13 its the shady practices from 1 company from the next if it was the right thing to do on Intels part they wouldnt even be in court paying out all the money , Yes I do realize what FUD post is mostly garbage But i was only trying to make the point as to what if it was true and the ATI worked 60% better on AMD, AMD would be in court Yes I have Intel build and Im happy with it as I am happy with My AMD build its just comes down to what your happy with in the end Right? Its the Intel practices thats in question. and yes your 100% correct with the Nivida 700 chipset.
