Acrylic and LED Monitor Mod - Page 3

Assuming you LED's are 3.5 volt each you will only need 5v to run both.

Solution 0: 1 x 2 array uses 2 LEDs exactly
+5V
+-|>|--/\\/\\/\\-+R = 82 ohms
-|>|--/\\/\\/\\-R = 82 ohms
The wizard says: In solution 0:

* each 82 ohm resistor dissipates 32.8 mW
* the wizard thinks 1/4W resistors are fine for your application Help
* together, all resistors dissipate 65.6 mW
* together, the diodes dissipate 140 mW
* total power dissipated by the array is 205.6 mW
* the array draws current of 40 mA from the source.

You can run several LEDs from a 5v source but they will draw more mA

Oh ok, thanks =]

The LED's are on their way. Acrylic too! The acrylic should be here within a few days and then the LED's and resistors should come in about a week. Ill post the finished product if it all works out.

Really sweet mod. I am really considering doing this aswell. I have 3 lcd's in the basement that I would love to do this with. Would you reccomend doing it? Is it worth the amount of time?

Well. As long as your patient and have spare time, i'd do it. Make sure you look at how the stand is built on your monitor though, mine was crap and had no metal support so my rebuilt black one out of a shelf bracket and some other metal doesnt look as good as the MekuMods one.

I think its worth it, makes my old monitor look much better and matches the rest of my case better. Its not that costly either, the acrylic i bought came to about £10 and the LED's were £3. Wires were taken from an old USB wire, old front panel case cables and a switch from an old cathode inverter.

Im thinking of spraying my really old speakers black and if possible, changing the LED from red to blue if its not too hard.

Thanks for the feed back all!
