I wonder what type of graphics card setup will allow you playable framerates with decent amounts of eye-candy...

probably 3 280GTXs in SLI for 25 FPS at 1680x1050 with AA/AF turned up.

No offense intended, but as it is right now your post is just as lacking as the others with similar views.
The game is indeed ahead of its time. However then how can some people with uber l33t machines out there not run this very well when others with lower machines can ?...I find that rather inconsistent.

Not only that but ( I have not done this myself, howevre ive seen screenshots from others ) how can you explain away all the error messages and conflicts that come up in the console lol. Yes all games have this issue at time but when I last looked at a screenshot I was rather horrified.

You were the first person to say anything of the sort. Nobody was bashing anything. You just assumed they would. Apparently you just came in here looking for an argument so just leave.

At the end of the day Im not bothered by Crysis as there are much better games out there . The thing that does annoy me is that they should have tried to blance things out ...yes lovely eye candy but they should have made it a little more flexible

So have you ruled out all possibilities then? Such as different screen resolutions, different hardware, different game versions? There are many, many games that run this way, and you can't blame the game for all the issues.

Optimization was mentioned in the original article, so learn to read before you criticize me.

A post was edited as I wouldn't have put that up there had I not read it. And this wouldn't be the first thread where that was mentioned.
I agree with you mate that this game does look good, but I also have to agree it is too demanding on resources. It's not economically viable. In 1-2 years maybe this level of horsepower will become the norm but at the moment even on an enthusiast site like ocn a select few can enjoy it

Far Cry was the same way. And you don't have to have everything maxed out in order to enjoy the game.

Anything less than "High" and it looks bad. Anything higher and it is unplayable. I'd rather just max out Gears of War or CoD4 and enjoy a nice playable 50 fps. And it looks better too.
