Going from RAID1 to RAID0+1

Thread Starter
Is there anything I need to know about? I'll be going from RAID1 to RAID0+1 and it will be with using a different RAID controller. All 4 HD's are identical. Two are brand new and the other two have been in RAID1 for about 2 months.

You do know that you have to reinstall or apply an image on the RAID0+1?
Once again...

It's just data, no OS.

shouldn't he be able to use the matrix storage manager to "upgrade" the raid to 0+1?
I at least know it works when adding more drives to a raid0 config I would assume you should be able to go from 0 to 0+1 using the same software.

You need 4 physical drives for RAID0+1 ... You stripe RAID0 across two drives for performance, and have two others to mirror the RAID0 (+1)...

I know that, I have 4 HD's. 2 are brand new and 2 already have the data on them. My question was how do I configure this setup with RAID0+1?

Delete all data on all the HDs and create a RAID0+1 array.

If using the Intel Matrix program, open up the app and there should be a setting for it. However, I would rather create an image and do it myself. If the something goes wrong, your data will probably be corrupted.

Actually.... if this is only data.... why RAID0+1 at all? You don't need performance to get data off the drives faster.
