Motherboard have effect on Graphics overclock?

Thread Starter
Hi, I recentley got a new motherboard, processor and ram, I still have my old BFG 8800GTS 320MB - It seems that it doesnt overclock as far on this motherboard than it did on my old one, could this be down to chipset, driver problems (new windows installation) or its just been pushed to far? either way it seems to crash with alot lower clocks than I used to be able to achieve.

Thanks

Yes,it will have a big effect. If Motherboard doesnt have good overclocking potential, epic fail.

What are you talking about?

Aryuautku's information = epic fail.

There shouldn't be any effect since they are two seperate systems. What are your previous and current overclocks? Could it be a bad PCIe slot?
Once again...

Agreed.

I am saying if a motherboard doesn't have good oc'ing potential like ASUS' or Gigabyte's,it can not overclock good.I dont mean mobo is epic fail,i mean how it overclocks.

The motherboard's FSB overclocking ability has no effect on the video card's GPU or memory overclocking.... so why are you talking about motherboard overclocking?

I used to be able to have 630Mhz core and 950 (1900mhz) Memory stable, and higher for benchmarking (650mhz 2000mhz)

Edit:- have trouble getting 600mhz core stable and 1800mhz memory
Old motherboard was asus m2n-sli deluxe, which isnt the best motherboard for overclocking.

make sure you got latest drivers and firmware. both on the card and mobo, just to be safe.

All mobos are different then others.Still, you sure the gpu is put good on its slot?
could it be due to the new board having more vdrop/vdroop... or does that not count for graphics cards ???

EDIT... maybe the card isnt getting the voltage it was getting before...
