Replacing my Pentium 4 3.2, EWW

Thread Starter
IT DIED WHAAAAAAA................... anyway.

All I have left are my HDDs my 32in LCD TV i use for a monitor and my sound card I doubt my Power Supply(600w OCZ GameXStream OCZGXS600) will be useful in my new Computer build ecause Im looking towards getting some GX2's.

Some info may be spotty if so ask questions if anything sucks on my list PLEASE FEEL FREE to help me and tell me so I dont make a mistake I am not made of money but I dont want a Crappy system. I live on crappy systems all the time its time to get something better I was on a 233MHZ Pentium 2 when everyone was starting the Pentium 4 days so ya Im way behind lol I recently had a 3.2 Prescott and that took forever to get also.

Here is what I am looking at getting from Newegg, Tiger Direct, and ZipZoomFly,

Motherboard
eVga 790i Ultra Sli(was 349 at Newegg)

CPU
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450

CPU Cooler
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 PRO 92mm
GPU
1(for now) eVga 9800 GX2 SSC 1GB

PSU
ThermalTake 1000w the W0155RU

RAM
OCZ3P20002GK or 4GK hell......... DDR3 anything unless it is never going to be useful....
I DONT KNOW WHAT TO GET PLZ HELP I was wanting 2000Mhz but is it Something that Will be beneficial, dont worry about the money though I saw some I was gonna get it was only 2gb i think but thats fine im sure I dunno.

Any suggestions on what I can upgrade to downgrade too will be helpful its around 18-2000 dollars for this but I am willing to pay a WEE bit more or less. If you can save me money, GREAT. Especially if there will be anything new outthere like Dual QUAD cores or a completely new Socket Altogether it has happened to me before, I did my 478 Socket PC and boom LGA 775 came, it p'd me off so if its going to be changing soon let me kno and Ill drop the CPU Down a lot, Whatever you guys can come up with, its AIR Cooled too running in a Apevia(Aspire) X-Jupiter S-type with 1 250mm Side Fan, and 120s everywhere else, 1 front 1 top 2 back

Thanks for all your guyses posts ahead of time and on behalf of What I have read in other peoples post on this thread You guys do a great job I saw that one guy build a nice cheap computer, thats something I will get probably if The socket type is going to be changing soon cause I just want to get a computer again, im using the PS3 for internet and IT BLOWS!!!!!!! lol Thanks and anyy help is appreciated.

First up, if your spending that much money on stuff, you might as well get a good cooler, so a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, Tuniq tower, or Zalman 9700 would be great.

Second, the 2,000 mhz stuff is very pricy, and not really worth it, some slower stuff should be able to get there any ways.

Lastly, the socket 775 is being replaced by several different ones this fall, so it is up to you if you want to get this now, or a nice Nehalem rig later.

Oh and for the case, here are a few of the nicer ones for you to look at:

Lian-Li Armorsuite
Lian-Li V2100
Coolermaster Cosmos
Thermaltake Armour

Probably missing some, and there are all sorts of flavors of each model, but they are all very nice.

the quad core is fine for 4-5 years i think. Look at my sig rig, i can still do internet and basic stuff with it. The 8 threads will be almost too much as far as multitasking goes, it will run so much stuff your brain will not be able to keep the pace. So, c quad-core is enough IMO
