Safe Operating Temperatures for 8800 GT OC

Thread Starter
I have two BFG 8800 GT OC in SLI with stock settings. The rest of my system has stock settings.

During gaming I run CPU fan at 50% and max temp <65 C always

During gaming I run GPU fans at 100% and max temp is 72 C for GPU not connected to monitor and 96 C for GPU connected to monitor. THis happens with CRYSIS. ETQW only gets to 65 C and 90 C.

I also have a 120 X 120 X 1600 RPM 64 CFM Scythe blowing outside air directly onto 96 C GPU card

My case also has another 120 X 120 fan for rear exhaust

Case Thermaltake SorpranoRS new case to be installed next week is cooler master RC1010 COSMOS.

Everything runs fine but over 90 C seems like a bad idea only comments????

Yes 90c isn't good.
80c would be red-line for me.
78c w/stock cooler max average

They can take anythign under 110, though under 80 is what i'd call the safe zone. Try mounting a fan right behind the cards flowing across them.

Those are bleeding hot temps.

When i had a G92 8800GT, my card never saw higher than 60c on air cooling (stock).

Do you have fan set to higher than what it defualts to (I think somewhere in the 30 percent range).

Even so, your temps are high. I'm pretty confident it can handle up to 80c load, but I wouldn't be comfortable with that. I'm sure > 80c is not a good thing, though they may be capable of handling more.

You could try taking off the stock heatsinks and applying AS5 to it.

I dunno what to say then man, besides you might wanna go for aftermarket coolers. What are your ambient temps?
