it's just a simple relay to switch the power to the CCFL inverter; no complex wiring necessary for this at all.

In case some of you are curious about the size of the slots; I used a 3/16" (4.7625mm) straight bit and cut the slots 4mm (5/32") deep and 105mm (4.13") long, the actual tubes are 3.175mm (1/8") diameter and 100mm (3.94") long.

Getting closer to completion

First off we have to drill holes in the lower 2 panels for the CCFL wiring to pass through to be able to connect them to the inverters

So we have to mark the center of the panel

Drill a pilot hole

Then use a 5/8" spade bit to drill it out to the desired size.

And all the holes drilled; bear in mind that the top panel does not have/need this hole

Now moving on to the wiring for the CCFLs

Fist I removed the plugs from the leads

Then soldering a lead to each end

Did that for all 12 CCFLs

Then sleeving the wiring and adding the plug

Then I just couldn't resist testing the effect of a CCFL seated into one of the slots; this is a shot from the side
(the pic doesn't quite do it justice)

Then finished up sleeving the rest of the CCFL wiring.

Well It's time to get back to work

I had to drill a pair of holes at the back of the lower panel to allow me to use a zip-tie to secure the pigtail to the base; so naturally I first mark the locations

Then drill out the holes

I hot-glued the CCFLs into the slots in the panels; when checking to make sure everything was in order, I found that one of the cathodes had quit working; so I gave Alex at Petra's Tech a call and thanks to their outstanding customer service he's sending me a spare
So here are the panels with all but one cathode installed

Since I could not finish up the actual bases today, I moved on to the wiring for inside the case.

First I connected the power supply leads to the PCI bracket

Then moving on to the control lines from the GPOs of the MO display
since only 6 of the 10 wires in the ribbon cable are necessary I removed the remaining 4 wires as this would allow me to put it into a smaller braid of wiresleeving

The cables that Came with the LED indicator buses were only 60cm long abd Carl determined he needed ~80cm to nicely route the cabling from the MO to the PCI bracket; so naturally I had to extend the wiring

I went ahead and sleeved them since the 10-pin connector would not have fit through the braided sleeving

And soldered that to the DB-15 connector as well

Then finally sleeved the cabling for the power as well

Once the replacement CCLF gets here (should be by the end of the week) I'll get the wiring for that taken care of then all that's left is gluing the radobase CCFL indicator bus and the inverters in place, giving the panels a nice polishing (to get rid of any fingerprints), and assemble the base.

Dang, you got some fine magic working with that braid and sleeving.
My stuff never looks that good.

Just goes to what I was rambling about in another thread.
There's two pretty destinctive types of modding.
Guys like Bill Owens, Syrillian, CyberDruid, Ice_Owl and others that actually creat things.
And then others that do to budget or skill restraints tweak or enhance with a mod.

Kudos again bro. Lookin' awesome.
