The P35 intel chipset does not have any IDE connections native to it. So the motherboard manufacturer puts an IDE controller chip on the board to allow an IDE device to be connected. There is only 1 connection (one IDE slot to connect a IDE cable), but you are probably used to 2. SATA is the new standard, so just forgoe the IDE parts you have and get the SATA HDD and DVD drive.

final version of what I plan to go with. I like the cm 690, but i'd rather go with the centurion 5. Fits me better for some reason...
The Cooler Master CM 690 is a much better made case and allows for great airflow within the case. The Centurion 5 is a cheap case and will add a lot of heat to your setup. The CM 690 is $85 at newegg. I just found a great deal on one for you.

Just check out these CM 690 Threads:

u mean get another IDE cable for your dvd rom + your hdd?
i dont think u should do that since u only got 1 IDE port on your mobo and if u connect both the dvd rom and hdd onto the one port, your data transfer rate will be slow...
so u can either reuse your dvd rom if it's still in good health or get another hdd (depending on how old the hdd is)... since u use the hdd more than the dvd rom

just my little piece of suggestion

Alright, I just put in a 250GB Sata Hard drive, for about $45

https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/M...spx?ID=7679811

Now do I need another cable for my dvd rom drive or will it be included with my motherboard?

Edit: I am going to bed I will look at your responses in the morning. Good Night and thanks everyone for helping!

That HDD only has an 8Mb cache. The AAKS I linked has a 16Mb cache, and will be much faster performace wise. The HDD is very important, so I wouls spend the extra $20 on a good one. All the parts I listed are not the cheapest, but the best cost/performace you can find IMO.

edit: Modular PSUs are not necessary, and not worth the extra cost IMO. here are my last 2 builds and they are not modular:

Coldnapalm,
I bet with a little time you can clean up that case. You really want to clean it up in order to get some decent airflow to keep your temps down.

Oh ****, Now I'm stuck. Modular Psu? I don't really care about cable management, but I want my stuff to be good. That's all. And I see that my psu only has these connectors :

1 x Main connector (20+4Pin)
1 x 12V(4Pin)
4 x peripheral
2 x SATA
1 x Floppy
1 x PCI-E

so how will I be able to hook up the dvd-rom drive?

EDIT: NVM 4 x peripherals go into the dvd-rom drive/gfx card and everything, right? or something like that.

Is that where the hard drive goes in all cases? I'm kind of a noob with that, but I know where everything else goes..
you wont with that list, just buy a new dvd burner man there not even expensive. I was asking people what sorta build i could do with $600, it soon turned into $800. Dont expect to be able to get proper decent stuff on mediocre budget, jus never works.
