The main probs with Vista 64 are driver support. If you have a wireless lan usb stick or similar things that are essential, I would look up if they support vista 64 before you install it.

As for games, I'm not sure, but vista 32 bit runs everything fine and you can always use the compatibility mode. New games should work fine though. In the long run I would say 64bit. Hope that helps!

64 bit rocks, I find that my PC runs nearly 2x as fast, and IE7 64 bit doubles the speed of your internet by taking advantage of your CPU.
get 64 bit!!!

Why not do both. Leave XP as is and create a partition or provide a drive for Vista 64bit. That way you can have stablity and performance. I multi boot all my rigs. If you Vista is an upgrade DVD all you do is install once without a serial and it will do a complete Vista build. Once finished install again over first vista install this time with serial for activation. I have worked this method a couple times without issue.

Been running Vista ultimate x64 on my rig since she was constructed back in december. No problems so far and i've ran a lot of programs with no problems. COD4 runs great on x64. Don't hesitate to go x64, you won't regret it!

I've had no problems with Vista x64 to speak of. I thought COD4 running at stupidly high framerates was just down to my rig
