hmm, ic, how much of a performance difference is there between 2x9600gt and a 8800gts

Not sure...

But.. back to a question asked earlier: What's the budget??

In your initial build, you listed a very expensive PSU... doesn't sound like budget to me

Mmmm.. it seems the 9600GT's in SLI will beat a single 8800GTS by about 20% or so:
http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/...ance/page4.asp

But then again, SLI 8800GT's add another good chunk of performance

What resolution are you using? If lower than 1680 x 1050, the single 8800GTS will catch up quickly (SLI is most beneficial at higher resolutions)

For that budget, SLI isn't going to happen, unless you choose an older chipset.

How much can you get the 9600's for?

and before rebate? (Again, don't take rebates into consideration. You'll have to pay the full amount first anyways. Or is it $700 after rebates, which bumps your REAL budget up to like $800 - $900??)
