the 8 port power connectors is basically 2x four pin power connectors connected in parallel, therefore it WILL work if you connect 1 4pin power connector from your PSU, but you should most likely upgrade (you don't have to) since it was designed like that to pull MORE power than a standard setup

The Corsairs from buy.com are the way to go but 650W is kind of overkill for his system unless he plans on a major upgrade in the near future. Heck, the 450W would be plenty. But, buy the highest watt PSU you can afford now so a year or two down the line you won't have to get a new PSU if/when you decided to get some more power hungry stuff.

But you don't really have to get a new PSU. If you are just running that 4600+ it will do just fine with just a 4-pin. While it's always better if you use an 8-pin if possible because the power needed will be split across 4 wires instead of 2, but it's not that big of a deal if you are just running a dual core. And that Thermaltake really isn't a bad PSU. It's a lower end CWT build but still a decent PSU.

Lol, I just noticed you are from England so recommending buy.com is a little silly. ebuyer usually has pretty good prices on the Corsairs and when you do upgrade to the quad it would be a good idea to get a new PSU with the proper cpu connector. The vx550 would work for just about any single GPU setup (except maybe the really power hungry stuff like the 8800 Ultra, 9800gx2, 3870x2, but depends on overclocking and the number of HDs and such).
