Help me OC new Q6600/Abit IP35 pro, please

Thread Starter
Just got them with 2x2GB G.skill DDR2 1000, Tuniq tower 120.
Can someone help me some ideal numbers to start with this board? What is the max safe Vcore for the Q6600 GO?
Thanks

OCing is all about you

We can't really give you numbers because your chip is different, so is your Vid. For the Q6600, keep your voltage under 1.55. You'll be fine on temps with a tuniq, but keep your temps under 71°C. That's the thermal spec of the Q6600.

Hey there you are running the same board, chip and ram as me.

However like se7en56 said we dont know your vid and all so just be careful with juice.

You can download core temp and find out if you like. My q6600 go has a vid of 1.2 and im able to pull of a pretty easy 3.6 ghz. I havent really pushed it yet to see how high it can go as I am just busy with other stuff right now.

If you want a starting point you can see first how high you can get on stock volts and work up from there. I ended up at right now 450 X 8 = 3.6 ghz. .... I have my vcore at 1.45 or so. I could probably get away with a tad lower but I had to leave the 1.3 range to get stable for 4 core prime. I also have the nb, sb turned up one step each and my ram at 2.1volts,,, the board will default to 1.8 I think.... Just dont forget to mind your ram dividers.

Right now in vista ultimate it runs a 14.2's 1m superpi and that is without turning off background apps.

I have it prime stable for 12+ hours and it runs great...

Good luck and let us know how you do.

Thanks guys,
How can I find out my the CPU's VID? And yes, know every CPU and mobo are different. I ask so because the IP35 pro/Q6600 are kind of old and so popular. It save a lot of time to keep restart the computer to find out some thing that a lot of man already know here. The Abit Uguru has so many "voltage thing" to set (not only Vcore and Vdim), I need some help there and what is "memory preference"? I don't mean to ask for the numbers that can be set and done.
In the other hand, should keep the stock multi or set it to 8?

You can check your Vid by downloading Core Temp like I said above. It will tell you it when you run it.

For the voltage... you want to change your CPU voltage, vdimm or ram voltage, and maybe if need be the voltage for your NB and SB but for now just leave them at stock.

the multi is depended on how high of a FSB you can get this stable at.
