Help me build a $700 Gaming Computer

Thread Starter
Well, I'm building a semi-low budget computer for a friend. He is looking to get into gaming. He is sick of all of his family's Macs (so he says). It is going to be Intel.
Let's start it off with a parts list:
Case: NZXT Apollo (red/orange/black) $79.99 (plus $20 MIR)
PSU: XCLIO Stablepower 500w $54.99
Motherboard: don't know (possibly DFI P35 Dark)
CPU: don't know (possibly e8400, q6600, e2180)
RAM: G.Skill 2x1gb pc26400 or 2x2gb kit of something (can't decide) $44.99
GFX: EVGA 8800GT $159.99 (plus $10 MIR) (or 9600gt?)
HDD: 250gb Seagate $59.99
OS: Vista home Prem 64-bit (just in case we decide 4gb) $94.99
Optical Drive: Liteon Sata DVD burner $23.99
Total is ~$519 - $20 rebates
That only leaves $181.05 for the mobo/proc and any additional tweaks (like more memory)

AM2 Boards. Edit: let me find you a nice one for 110$

You'd want an AM2+ board, so if you ever decide to upgrade to a phenom:

If you want to go to the Intel side you can get a E2160 for like $56 shipped at MicroCenter [http://www.microcenter.com/single_pr...uct_id=0280361]. It pretty much reaches the same overclock as the E2180. If you plan to stay with AMD then go for the Athlon 64 X2 5600+ [http://www.netaffilia.com/ads/electr...08/06/06/32888] Now i understand that the Mobo is pretty crappy but you can use it as a spare. And good old cooling [http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835185125]

If you go AMD, go with the 5600+
If you go intel, go with the e7200

And just make sure your MOBO is compatible with everything and has good reviews

E7200 cost just $6 more than 5600+, but it performs faster than the fastest AMD X2 most of the time.

Check these reviews
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu...x3-8750_6.html
http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...spx?i=3293&p=5

Not to mention that E7200 overclocks better and run cooler.

Anyway, if you want to go intel, then get this mobo with E7200
