HiS HD3870 IceQ3 Turbo-prob :/

hey all, im new to this site and have searched for a while looking for a related thread about my prob without success... anyway i'd first like to say that im not an enthusiast, i am very much in the early stages of understanding some of which i read in these pages! so replies in plain old english please... lol.

i have recently built a new pc after my old cpu / gfx started to struggle running latest games and all seems to have been fine untill i played race driver GRID, this game just seems to kill my gpu i lose output and need to cut power to reboot, so far i have found it very difficult to find a fix or even if its the game or card that is the problem...

my system :
CPU = Q6600 (stock atm) with Zalman CNPS9700 cooling
GFX = HiS HD3870 IceQ3 Turbo
RAM = 4GB (2x2GB) Corsair DDR2 @ 800MHz pc6400
PSU = 700W EZCool Infinity
HDD's = 2x 250GB 1x 500GB
O/S = Vista x64 sp1

^^hope thats enough info

also add that i have tried a dual boot with xp with same result as far as GRID goes, O/C cpu to 3.2GHz tho i doubt that would have any impact??

i have ran ATITool 3d test for 30 mins and temp goes to 75C where it wits for most of that time, games like bioshock, CoD4 usually run around the 60C mark. checked for artifects which was clean. i have also tried to UNDERCLOCK gpu to 800 from 850, (no room to down the mem clock at all (using CCC)) which does seem to improve GRID but still ended up crashing tho took a little longer.

*Edit*
i hope this is clear in what i say, im pretty new to this really and im not 100% on terms...

my question is really how would i go about making this more stable, ideally without some of the modding/bios processes ive seen being banded about? ....lol
