Best ATI drivers to date? - Page 2

grunion

I have not had any problems with them on any games yet. It raised my Vantage score by 500 points. 3DMark06 stayed the same. The performance in Crysis drooped a couple of frames but everything else went up. Are you running 64bit or 32bit ? the only other real difference I see is you are running X48 and I am running X38

I'm still a little unsure about these 8.5 drivers. When I last was figuring out what drivers to use, 7.11 was out, but it was only improved the new generation of cards, otherwise it was problematic, or something like that. The best were 7.4's.

I use Omega ATI drivers for my older cards because they are more reliable, but are they any good/better than the "stock" 8.5's?

Thanks.

So far for me 8.5's are proving very reliable (random crashes with 8.4), just gone triple crossfire with them and having no issues. Only issue I have is card temps, back to stock cooling after running HR-03's and these thing are cooking (but at least my toes are warm).

After installing 8.5 drivers, I get an average of 530fps in ATITool. Down from 600fps from a previous install with earlier drivers: http://www.overclock.net/ati-drivers...ml#post1627436

It would seem as if these 8.5 drivers, while they were nice and easy to install for once, preform worse than the 7.4's for my r580 (x1950pro) card. Unless I'm doing something wrong.
