E7200 Temps Reading 80C but cool to the touch!?!???

Question, just got mysetup going, IP35 Pro and a E7200 ... (stock intel heatsink/fan)

From the screenshot it says its burning up, however I can keep my finger on the stock heatsink without having to move it at all, seems super cool all around it and keep my finger on it no problem while it reads 80C celcius, if that was accurate I wouldn't be able to keep my finger on the heatsink fins right? I even tried pulling the power and sticking my finger in between the fan blades as it shut off and the middle of the heatsink is cool to the touch too, can keep my finger on it as well...

Those are temps under full load on PRIME95, when I stop Prime95, the temps instantly drop to 33-41C in seconds...

What does this mean? Is it really that hot? Or is the temp sensors messed up ? RMA? or can it really be that hot, I tried SPeedFan, CoreTemp and & RealTemp, all read high temps, REALTEMP being the highest by 10C.....

Whats going on, any input???

So those temps are true even though I can touch the heatsink and all seems cool around it?

(Second time I am re-seating it....)

If the heatsink is cool to the touch that means it's not pulling the heat away from the CPU, the base of the heatsink should be slightly warm.

Take out the motherboard with the heatsink attached and verify that all four plastic pins are completely through the back of the motherboard.

My friend had this exact same problem with the stock cooler. And by the way, if the heatsink is not contacting the cpu well, it will not transfer heat well, and therefore means that the heatsink will not be hot. A hot heatsink is actually a sign of good heat transfer, and cold can be a sign of bad heat transfer.

It's pretty weird. There is no way it can be 80C one minute and then ten seconds latter be 30C. It may be the case of a bad CPU/mobo but unless you have other hardware to test it on, it will be hard to tell.

Thats what I was thinking, it shouldnt drop down so fast right?

What do you think it is so I can RMA the right one? Or do other people experience this drop in temperature so fast after stopping a stress test?

kromix just to let you know, there have been reports of people getting bad temp readings from teh E7200. Try google it, im buying e7200 though on monday hope mines ok!
