Unofficial TF8200 A2+ Thread **Updated 06/27** - Page 2

I just got the Biostar TF8200 A2+ and need help with overclocking.

I have:
AMD Athlon 64 x2 4600+
G.Skill 1 gig 1066

I currently have it on the v8 and it is running stable but the memory is underclocked. and with it auto oc'ed I cannot raise the freq.

I know nothing at all about overclocking so any help is appreciated

Akira, welcome to OCN! If you are completely new to overclocking I'd recommend reading over this guide. It's extremely helpful:
http://www.overclock.net/amd-general...ocket-am2.html

What settings are set to AUTO in your BIOS? I'd recommend manually entering in the changes. Make sure to disable Cool'n'Quite and anything related to "Spread Spectrum" (if available in the bios of course). The guide above should shed some light on a lot of your questions.

If you can please add your system specifications to your signature. This will let us know what your running ect. You can do this by going here: http://www.overclock.net/specs.php?do=addsystem

Good luck

SB to K8 frequency = HT Link speed. (basically this is your HT multiplier setting)

SB to K8 LinkWIdth = I am not too familiar with this. I have mine left at 16 down 16 up. (the same as shown in the picture)

Budgetgamer, great response

Akira, AM2 processors apparently overclock quite well with high HT speeds (1200-1400mhz). So you could try leaving the HT multiplier at 5x for now to see how far you can.

Let us know how it's going!

Good luck

Akira, also make sure your testing for stability. Working with an unstable OC can cause problems over time and possibility data corruption. I usually use Orthos for testing. I run the blend test at priority 9 for at least 8-9hours. Another excellent stability tester is OCCT.

Let us know how it goes

Good luck

yeah...the v12 was unstable. it froze while in windows and i went right in and turned it back to the v8. should i be present while i run the stress test? Do I need to worry about heat while doing so? i have my shutoff at 60c is that ok?

Akira, you'll notice the temperature differences within 15-20mins. Keep an eye on everything while your stress testing between that time. The full load temps may exceed 60C if your on stock cooling. How much voltage are you running again (vcore)? What is your room ambient temperature?

Good luck
