Akira and think3r.... the BIOS displays ram frequencies like CPU-Z does.... 400Mhz = DDR2 800, 333Mhz = DDR2 667 and so on. The board is compatible with 1066 ram, but that Memory CLK option (533Mhz) won't show up in the BIOS unless you're running a Phenom.

can the ram be oc'ed to 533 on this board with athlon64x2 without board? also what are the default voltages for the board. as you could see the manual doesnt give it.

I just tryed to put the base values in and i got the warning message again this time it stayed on the screen for a second and a half...anyway i could make out 4 words this time...warning(flashing red)cpu, heat, and voltage. also the temp didnt go above 30c when the error message came up. when i changed the cpu voltage from startup to 1.35v i wonder if that had an affect so i am going to leave it at startup for the time being and see if it still pops up. I looked at the voltage for cpu and 1.20-1.25V is stated, but i will try not touching any voltage yet. recomandations?
here are the baseline stats to start off with from section4

I tried out the overclock utility that came with my mobo and its doing pretty well. It only overclocks if i start the program up. It passed a 2 min ortho test at 2765.3 mhz but not any higher now i am doing a longer test. It doesnt show up on a screen capture otherwise i would post it. but i am still getting the temperature error when i am running ortho so i am putting everything back on normal until i get a better cpu fan. it still bothers me that the cpu temp reads 30c when the message comes up. i thought the max temp was 55-65c for the athlon64x2. is the sensors misreading or is this correct? I think i am going to stick with cooling for the time being...any suggestions? And sorry for being such a noob

What program are you using to read the CPU temps? 30C would seem to be low for a load temp on Orthos.

Im useing T-Utility Hardware Monitor off of the cd that came with the motherboard.

you can check it out if you want
http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en-us/...r.php?S_ID=353
i also used cpu id at the same time to check other temps and the cpu temp shows the same. Orthos is the only program that i have that maxes the cpu out(i think thats weird)Even when i play GuildWars it only hits 50-60% and runs around 47C. My concern is if the sensor is misreading the temp. It says my gpu on idle is around 50C. That seems normal to me(for a noob anyway...lol) Im kinda freaked out as of why that message keeps coming up when i get started on testing the reference clock...i think i just took ip up 10 points then it started to come up. I have that fan performance control disabled too so the fan is running on high. The thing is i can hardly hear the fans at all. I have the cpu fan and a dual fan powersupply(which i used to power another computer a couple of months before this computer on a cool&quiet and when it heated up every fan zoomed)

You could try HW Monitor:

http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php

.... and see what kind of temp readings you get from that as a comparison. I use it and it's been pretty accurate for me.

So, if I'm understanding correctly, you're getting the warning messages when you're using the Auto OverClock?

no, i dont get them with auto only manual. and i didnt do much at all. it starts with only a 210 refrence clock. with no other numbers raised yet. i dont know if its just a fluke or is the cpu doing something i dont know about. I looked at the reviews from people that baught this cpu and a couple said they were able to get 2.9-3.0ghz out of it. thats nice and all but 2.6ghs is fine with me as long as i can get me mem up to speed...lol
I will try it again and see if anything happens again with the new hw monitor. iv been running it with no over clock but keeping it off to keep it cool ^_^

Are you overclocking in the BIOS, or using the overclock utility in windows when the warning messages come up?
