[DvHW] OCZ to launch 3GB memory kits

The next one is something that made me scratch my head enough for it to bleed, a 3GB memory kit. OCZ has them in DIMMs and SO-DIMMs for the 32-bit OS upgrade market. Windows has a broken memory model, and can't see more than 3GB (technically a hair more), so OCZ is filling that niche. No more RMAs with "1GB doesn't work" on it, now you simply don't get that 1GB. It will be interesting to see how it works in the market, but we want to see a bundle with a three-core Phenom and three ATI GPUs just to play with people's heads.

"Windows has a broken memory model, and can't see more than 3GB"

And I thought The Inquirer couldn't get any more stupid.

Sigh... 3 sticks on a 2-channel system? Yeah, okay...

I think that this may very well be aimed at the upcoming 3-channel nehalem chips. At least *I'll* be looking for 3x1 or 3x2 sticks of ddr3.

Silly idea if you ask me lol. I think getting a 4gb kit is better and then later when you get a 64bit os then your laughing.

-Watches as people send back they're kits when GPUs get 1.5GB of mem-

It's because you can't address the memory space in a 32-bit environment. Applies to everyone.
