hey, im finally buying my sig rig below, just wanting to make sure that the cpu/mb combo i've selected will make overclocking as easy and as effective as possible.. yes i know quads are good with this board too supposedly, but im looking for pure speed here trying to break the 4.0 barrier on air.. and the vid card yeah... waiting on benchmarks from the next gen coming out in 10 days or so but i digress , little help here? im about to empty the rainy day fund. asap

You don't really need x48. If you want crossfire, go with a DFI or Asus x38 board. For single cards, the P35 chipset is the best choice. If you can wait a few days, more P45 boards will be out.

Thats all fine, even a ds3r will max the cheap EASY. I currently have one built that I did with a ds3r and an e8400, stable at 4.1 on air with 55 load on a geminii. Then there is my e8500 which i can go quite high with :x 4.0 at < 1.3v

You can break 4.0ghz with just about with good p35 board.
If 4.0ghz is what you are looking for, just a get E8400.

There is no point to break the bank just for a computer as it updates way too quick and drops quickly in value.

Don't just buy a x48 and wait to see how great the next gen video cards are. What if the Nvidia cards are better?

yeah i actually was considering an abit p35 pro.. they seemed decent as well, just didnt have the 1600 FSB, and yeah i was imagining the 280 will eat the ati counterparts alive as far as max performance, but i was under the impression an x48/p35 could still handle a single nvidia card? sli is way too pricey with this next gen atm lol.

p45 eh..? exactly how many days we talking here haha. if i had an amount of patience id wait for the new ati/nvidia cards, so yeah patience is actually a bit of an issue :\\

Looks good to me Great parts. The suggestions made can save some money (E8400, P35/X38), but it's an excellent set up.
