Strange Problem - Page 3

TO be honest if you've checked your RAM and it checks out, try to format. I seriously doubt it's a driver issue if it BSOD's with restore or defrag. I hate to say it, but that's what I'd do.

Only other hardware I can think of is possably the PSU, but that really wouldn't make sense either how that BSOD seems to happen.

Yeah, I can try formatting again, it's just a real pain

I'm sort of thinking it may be my MOBO... I've had BSOD problems come and go in the past too...

That's definatly possable. Is it still under warrenty? Maybe if formating doesn't work, check into it. Put it this way, if formating DOESNT work - you'll know it's hardware related atleast - then you can try and troubleshoot.

I've had the MOBO probably little over a year now, so I really doubt it. Any ideas what causing the un-playable FPS in game though?

Thanks for the help so far!

its maybe just an OS issue then... if u dont wanna format u could just create say a 40GB partition and install vista and a couple of games and try it... if it works then you know its software/OS problem or if it doesn't work you know its a hardware problem. You can just format the new partiton and add the space back to your old partition when you want.

I bet your hardware is fine, definately try format/reinstall before buying a new motherboard. Vista probably confused itself and is using a mismash of files for something like your videodrivers or directx.

Yeah, I'll try a format. How would create a partition, couldn't I use MaxBlast?

I just got a random BSOD when I was on the web; it said something like 'FLTMRG'

RAM just passed 9 passes with Memtest. Any ideas?

Could it be the MOBO?
