I will admit I've seen pretty many "going ATI next round" posts even from people currently with Nvidia cards (not accusing anyone of being a fanboy). Curious to see how sucessufl RV770 ends up.
And what exactly does the past indicate? We all pretty much accepted the fact that one company will overtake another and then be overtaken again and again and again, and as consumers, all we can do is wait for the release to see which is better for our budgets.

i miss the good ol' days...
Intel fanboys? I rarely see any. Most of the time I see fanboys of performance and that's it.

I love AMD to death before Core 2, but now I love Intel. In reality, I don't love either company, I just followed where the performance went, so did all those "Intel fanboys" you speak of, if you have any idea how many switched from AMD to Intel since the introduction of Core 2.

And the X850XTPE also beat the 6800 Ultra. It was only recently, with the release of the 8800GTX and the 2900XT that nvidia took a clear lead. So I don't know where all this nvidia fanboyism crap comes from. If we look back on the GPU timeline...

9800XT > 5950 Ultra
X850XTPE > 6800 Ultra
7950GX2 > X1950XTX > 7900GTX
8800GTX/Ultra/G92/9800GTX > 2900XT/3870
3870X2 > 8800GTX/Ultra/G92/9800GTX
9800GX2 > 3870X2

When did the fanboyism really kick in here?
It all has to do with "The way its (not) meant to be played"

I might just have to swap out M-boards and go back to ATI I switched to nvidia back in 2004. Now what to do with these 2 BIOS modded 8800GT SSC Cards? And my Asus M2N32? **** I might as well just go 64 bit vista during the swap.

I wasn't implying that the past was any indication of future performance. I was pointing out the fact that you have Nvidia fanboys and other people who just buy into the hype who act like Nvidia's cards have always been vastly superior to ATi's. This simply is not the case and really the first time Nvidia had a clear lead was when the 8-series went up against the HD2K/3K series. Even then, they almost lost it when the HD3870X2 came out.

Don't know about you, but I've seen quite a few comments indicating that there are people who think that AMD processors have no place in the market, that Phenom is a useless piece of trash, and that AMD should just die.

that is exactly what they hope for. actually that is what many companies hope for.

and I'm not talking about the product but rather what you said.
take a look at the 2900 vs 2900pro
not saying it is always the case but so far many times it has been.

If this will really happen then ATI basically will prove that they have failed to provide competitive platform.

What? If ATI supports an OPEN platform for their video cards, how does that suggest they failed in any sense at all??

I'm cautious with all the news recently, too many different specifications floating around. Does anyone have a clear answer to this?
