help fix my broken monitor - Page 3

Try either another power cable or contact the manufacturer. DO NOT try and repair that thing yourself. If you were to touch on of the power caps in that you will really know about it...it can nacker up your heart so I would avoid opening it up.

I have an Acer 24' LCD monitor that I just sent back for the second time. It has a 3 year warranty and Im only alittle over a year and its gone back 2 times now. The first time it made a pop the the power light would flash on-off never stopping. I sent it back and when I got it back(3 weeks later) It said it was the power regulater. This time I was in a game, It had been a little over 1 hour and the colors went all scrambled. Kinda like the 3D but with out the glasses. And then there was a white flash and then the screen was blank. I could tell there was a back light on but no display. I tried it on another computer and the same thing. When I turn the monitor on I can see the back light come on but no display, And it will boot into Vista I can hear it. I tried the VGA and DVI hookups. (NO GOOD) Its been a week so far, I guess I got 2 more before I find out what happened this time.

so i take it that its quite dangerous to be playing around with it then, i read on the net that the xerox have problems with the capacitors, the ones that are installed are cheap ones and its quite simple to replace them....but there was no guide on how to do so so looks like this will be going in the bin then

If you really know what you are doing and work with electronics all the time then its a different matter. However to the average shmo then its really not adviseable...infact not worth it at all. Health>monitor.

I have had a PS2 discharge into me and that was not funny...a monitor is like 10x that...you wouldnt do so well lol.

Best advice right here. Is it worth the risk to try to fix a display? Nope.
