temps making me sick.. and destoying my heat sink and cpu. please help - Page 2

If you really want lower temps have you considered lapping both the cooler and cpu, but those temps aren't bad at all.

To answer a few questions:
I'm using realtemp as I hear it is more accurate than coretemp for the e8400's
From all info I have gathered <50 for everyday and <60 for benches... I'm looking for everyday.

With my house AC unit... I expect to hit 54 during the hottest part.

Thanks for all the replies so far

EDIT: You all replying faster than I can reply to first 1-2 replies. So I'm going to take these temps, unless someone posts that thinks my e8400 should run cooler. I have reseated so many times, counting my Vendetta 2 I went through 2 tubes of as5( about 75% of a tube was lost trying to get the pencil tip to work, I had as5 all over me and it's a pain to get off.)
Where did you read that? Temp limits vary per CPU, and the Core 2 Duo can handle a lot more heat than older CPUs. As long you're not hitting the mid-60's in 24/7 use or 70C in benchies, you're just fine.

also I THINK i read correctly that you're using Arctic Silver 5? That thermal paste requires about 200 hrs for it to cure / settle in correctly. From there you should see a 2c drop.

But dang man, aha those temps are great compared to mine. i load up at 58~60c. almost reaching my thermal limit.

Sitting the Bottom fan directly over the AC vent results in temps at 46-47... But i'm kinda scared to leave it there... Don't want water building on anything in my case ...The temp of the air after it passes through the fan is about 61-63F.. And the rest of my room is 75-80F.

Being worried I'm going to move it off the vent unless someone knows if it is dangerous or not.

Anyway thanks for all the comments... I'm going to take these temps. (Though I may move it back over the vent if it is save)

And for the comment about lapping. I had thought about it but I really don't want to lap this cpu and void my warranty on it.. But I was thinking about doing the TRUE as I don't think I could mess up on it... And I don't think it's going to break on me ..

EDIT: I think the thermal limit on the e8400 is 75C?

Thanks very much for all your comments
