New Build

Thread Starter
Not so long I posted a thread on here, wondering whether or not to buy a new graphics card and exactly what that would be. Haven't got round to either, so i'm wondering of whether or not to build a whole new system instead.

It's in the Intel forum seeing as it's the most likely choice for me. My budget is not very high at all - £250, though I don't intend to buy a new power supply, sound card, case or DVD drive. Might buy a new hard drive, but concentrate on the graphics card, motherboard, ram and processor please..

What would you guys reccomend? What I have looked at is:-
E1260 processor
DS3L mobo
2gb of RAM
8800GT

Any different ideas guys?

I thought it was just the same processor, with a different clock.
In fact, i'm sure it is.

You probably meant an E2160 then

I was confused with the Celerons for a moment (the E12xx series)

Can you somehow fit the P35-DS3L into your budget? If not maybe you could check out this graphics card instead

What's the difference?
Is it worth paying half as much again for the board?

Here is the comparison sheet. No real performance difference apart from the fact that the P35 is a tried and tested overclocking chipset, I don't know much about the P31.

I've seen pretty good overclocks with the P31.
Anybody have any other differences - other than the P35 takes more RAM than i'll need

The P31 is a nice board for this build. It'll overclock the E2160 (or E2180) quite nicely.

I do prefer the E2180 over the E2160, since your guaranteed an M0 revision, which overclocks better and runs cooler. Of the E2160, there might still be older ones floating around which aren't as good (but still very nice)
