OC Stability

Thread Starter
Ive run atitool and 3dmark06 and there were no artifacts whatsoever. I found today, that when i was running prime95 and cs at the same, the fps was dropping down to 40 when it was a solid 60 before when running with prime95 on. Id like to know if this means that my video card isnt stable or if its just chance.

You will need to see if your video card clock speeds are constant, they could be dropping due to a few reasons. Download RivaTuner from guru3d.com,run it, and click the small button next to word "Customize..." near the upper-middle right of program. Then click the button that has a magnifying glass over a film-strip looking thing. This will show you details like your core and memory clocks over time for your video card. Leave this running while you play cs, then check it to see if the clocks dropped over time. If they did, it could either be due to overheating, or due to an option called "force constant performance level". This option should only be looked into if your clocks immediately drop with the game starts. Despite all this, your fps drop could simply be because your computer is busier or for some reason the map/scenario you are playing in CS is a little more stressful than it was.
