Is this a good idea for a new build? - Page 2

BHS,
I am a Professional Designer and use Altium as my tool of choice. I Strongly
recommend you stay away from ATI cards. Altium doesn't like them. That said
if you are using something older and less than legal, ATI Raedons work well. I am TOTALY legal and have a killer laptop that has dual Dual Nvidia 8600m GT's
and it does well with the Altium 3d. I am upgrading my Workstation tomorrow
with a Nvidia 8800GTS superclock 320, 585W PSU, Motherboard and DDR2 memory. I have an older Prescott 3.6 ghz dual core that has life left in it and am just trying to buy a year or two. Nvidia is the board choice for Altium. I went with an 8 series GPU because I know they work from the Altium Forum.

Good luck,

Jim

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB x2
Acer P243WAid 24" monitor
LITE-ON DVD-RW
Intel E8400 once the price drop occurs
ATI 4870

And that should wrap it up. Comments?
Watercooling isn't needed for an E8400 and will also make transporting your box more dangerous. Do you really need watercooling?
