Cooler replacement

Thread Starter
I currently have a zalman CNPS9700 NT on my q6600 @ 3.384ghz @ 1.33v (1.288v on load). It idles at 28-30c and full load with prime95 is 50-51c (Tcase temps). My question is should i replace it with a OCZ Vendetta 2? The performance looks great i just am not sure it will improve upon my current setup. I need something to move more heat, I can get 3.7 at 1.44v however the zalman suffers from temp spikes. Ie. if i start up an encoder the temps hit 55-60c while the fan is increasing rpm (Asus Q-fan is enabled). Any thoughts?

you could replace the cooler if you want, i dont think you would see any more than a 5-6c drop in temps.

i would take this over the vendetta.

i think it would eliminate your spikes.
