COOLER MASTER Centurion 534 Fan Setup

Thread Starter
I have a COOLER MASTER Centurion 534 case, I got one 120mm fan in the front for intake, and one 120mm fan in the rear for exhaust. My CPU Fan is a 90mm fan that is installed sideways, in other words, it intakes from the front of the case and a little from the sides, and blows air out into the rear of the case and straight into the rear exhaust fan. On the bottom I got a 8800GTX.

Now my question is, on the Side of the case at the bottom, I have a slot for another 120mm Case fan, should I put that fan as Intake or Exhaust??? Seems to me if I put it as exhaust, it will be sucking air away from the video card, therefore raising its temps. If I put it as intake, I think there will be too much air build up in the case. Im not sure what to do...

Definately install it as an intake, bringing fresh air from the bottom. Hot air rises, so you will want to help eliminate the hot air by blowing it out the top.

Also if you install it as an exhaust, you will create a small vacuum, which u do not want.

Well I forgot to mention originally in the post, that the fan slot is on the side of the case, positioned at the bottom of the side. I will try to install as intake, see if my temp change for the better or worse. Thanx.

in the sidepanel? i thought you were talking about the fan slot on the bottom.

intake from the sidepanel. that will blow fresh air onto your GPU.

Heeeey.... the innards to the 534 is essentially the same as with my Centurion 532... Here's what I did with mine:

The side panel fan is intaking air at a low RPM
The front bottom fan is intaking air at a low RPM as well
the fan wedged in front of the video cards is then moving this air at a high speed over the video cards

This setup would be nice, but my GTX is so freaking huge, that I cant put the other fan to move the air through. It literally goes from the back of the case, and sits an inch away from the hard drive bays.

I did install the fan as intake on the side panel, but seems like my temps actually went up a few degrees on both CPU and GPU. The fan is running at max rpm, and has a CFM of 63 I believe. I think there maybe be too much air build up and not enough exhaust.

I guess I'll have to make a hole, and install another 120mm exhaust fan on top of the case...

Here are some pics of my Case(please excuse the mess, its a work in progress)

BTW Im not sure if should even be worried about temps but they seem a little high to me...

CPU: Core2Duo E6700 @ 3.2MHz, Idle temps are 38-40 C, under 100% load = 58-62 C
GPU: GeForce 8800 GTX clocked at 621,2000 Idle temps are 68-70 C Under load = 77-82 C

Ambient temp is 29-30 C , the temperature in the room is 85 F. Are those temps OK??? they seem a bit high.

UPDATE: I let the PC sit for about 2 hours, the ambient temp raised significantly, the CPU temps are also pretty high, around 43C Idle, I had em at about 35 C before. The GPU remained unchanged, with or without the new fan. I opened the case it was like an oven in there. I think I have to add another exhaust fan, cause the air seems to build up.

UPDATE: I found the solution!!! I installed a 69CFM fan in the front(intake), on the bottom side fan, I installed a 40CFM fan(intake), made a hole on top of the case, installed another 69CFM fan(Exhaust) and one more exhaust fan in the back of the case 40CFM.All 120mm. OMG, my Idle CPU temp is at 28C, 100% load at 47C.... my 8800GTX is frozen!!! 57C Idle (its overclocked to 621, 2000) and at load it goes to 72C Max!!!! Thanks for all your help guys!!!
