8800gts 512 vs 8800gts 320 - Page 2

I used to get around 11k with my 8800GTS 320 and 12k with my 8800GT. That being said, the GT does perform quite a bit better, especially on higher res.

I just upgraded from a 8800gts 320mb to a 8800gts 512, and man... What a big difference!

With the 8800 320 overclocked as far as it could, i got about 12700 in 3dmark06, with the new 8800gts 512 overclocked a littlebit (not even to the max) i get 16000.

Also in crysis (as someone wrote earlier) crysis was barely playable at high 1680 x 1050 with the 320 mb version, and now with the new 512 mb it runs very, very smooth (i havent looked how much fps it gets, but runs very smooth)

If you are thinking of upgrading from a 8800gts 320 to a 8800gts 512, dont hesitate, DO IT!

You will love it.

Edit: And the 3dmark score is at 1280 x 1024, when it comes to higher resolutions the 512mb version kicks the 320's butt

I noticed a significant performance increase going to a GT-512, but mostly I noticed was the stuttering was completely gone with higher resolutions and certain games.

I think it was severe crippling design flaw to put out an 8800 with less than 512meg. I just wish they kept the 320bit memory interface or higher instead of going backwards.

the 8800gts 320 is more or less a 1024x768 card.

1280x1024 I'd say.
