A Q6700 is a reasonable upgrade, and will last him for a while, EVEN when Nehalem comes out (the difference will be noticable, but it won't be *that* much)
Well, while he waits he could save up the extra money to buy the new mobo and RAM. Seriously, as of right now, I don't think an e4300 at 3.3ghz will noticeably bottleneck any GPU currently available. I know hes multitasking, but that is still a very capable chip.
