[PCinLife] GTX 280/260 benchmark chart, minimum system requirements and... - Page 3

I don't think this is accurate...9800GTX scores around X2500ish IIRC.

For what it's worth, it also isn't consistent with the results given in the R700 beats GTX280 thread, which claims that the GTX280 gets X4800 in Vantage.

Its not so much the Wattage its the amps on the 12V rails.

eg the corsair 1000watt

Combined amps of 80

Benches are completely FUBAR, but I expected no less.

As far as the power requirements go, remember that these things are incredibly efficient while idle. Its only while gaming that you suck that much power.

I don't even think there are PSU's out there that can handle the 12V amperage for tri-sli of a GTX280, are there? Maybe a 1600W?

Yea lol you would need 120 amps on the 12v rail for 3 x GTX280s LOL!

Yea i definitely agree, even though these use alot of power when at load i have a feeling it works out to much less for most people. even though i game ALOT my graphics card is also doing alot of desktop rendering.

Also lets not forget drivers

looks like nvidia is ahead in vantage but ati is better in 06. what we really need is Game Benchies!
ATI might come in ahead because of better memory management.

And that probably won't do it for SLI, though I'm not sure.

If these benches are accurate, the 9800gtx holds its own and given that it will drop in price once the new series is released, we will have a similar situation with the 8800gts 512mb beating everything in the 8 series and a bargain price.

I risked running a pair of 9600 gts with a 500 watt power supply so I might try tri sli 280 with my current psu
