Yeah, that would be bad false advertizing if the GPU isn't upgradable then it wouldn't be a "Custom Gaming..." anything. I promise this things GPU is upgradable or they wouldn't use the word "Gaming" so much.

The only time you can upgrade laptop video cards is if the interface is MXM. The biggest laptop manufacturers don't even use MXM so it will be next to impossible to find the separate MXM cards.

Correct

Altho, MXM cards arn't too hard to find. You have to search OEM places (i read an article i computer shopper about it).

You're so close to the release of the 4800 series why not wait a little bit? At the very least the 3800-equipped laptop prices should come down.

i was thinking the same thing, but AMD is so obssesed with "platform launches" and i don't expect the 4800 mobile to be out until the next amd CPU

3800 mobile was released with Puma right? that was like... 2 weeks ago?

Good point. I thought about that after I posted. It's always a matter of waiting...

The video card is pre-installed, and, as with many notebooks, may be part of the motherboard.

Moreover, there is no "standard" for notebook vid cards, so even if you could upgrade it, there's nowhere to buy notebook vid cards.
I thought ATI came out with a non-integrated notebook gpu system? (OR am I crazy? Hmmm.)

EDIT: It seems google is my friend. Is this tech still around and kicking or did it get killed off?

The only time i will custom build a laptop is when it is standardized (MoATX or something) and when you can buy MXM cards without having to jump through 100 hoops and sell your first born.

Good step forward tho
